INTERNET USER AGREEMENT

I. Acceptable Use

The use of the Internet must be in support of education and research and must be within the educational goals and objectives of Windsor Elementary School. I am personally responsible for this provision at all times when using the computer network.

  • Transmission of any material in violation of any United States statues is prohibited.   This includes, but is not limited to: copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material or material protected by trade secret.

II. Privileges

The use of the information system is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use will result in a cancellation of those privileges.

III. Network Etiquette

You are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette. These rules include the following:

  • Be Polite. Never send, or encourage others to send, abusive messages.
  • Use appropriate language. Do not swear or use obscenities.
  • Do not reveal your personal address or phone number or that of other students or colleagues.
  • Note that email is not guaranteed to be private. People who operate the system have access to all mail.
  • Do not use the network in any way that would disrupt use of the network by others.

IV. Securities

Security on any computer system is a high priority because there are many users. If you identify a security problem, notify the system administrator at once. Never demonstrate the problem to other users. Never use another individual’s account or let another use yours. Attempts to log on to the network, as a system administrator will result in cancellation of all user privileges. Any user identified as a security risk or having a history of problems with other computer systems may be denied access to the network.

V. Vandalism

Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm or destroy data of another user or any other agencies or networks that are connected to the Windsor Elementary School system. This includes, but is not limited to, the uploading or creation of computer viruses. Students are prohibited from installing any program onto the network or workstations. Violations of this policy can result in unintentionally infecting the system. This is also considered vandalism. Any vandalism will result in the loss of computer services, disciplinary action and possible legal referral.

VI. School Use

  • A teacher must be present in the classroom when a student is using the Internet.  If a teacher is not currently in the room, wait until one is present.
  • Never load any software downloaded from the network or brought from home onto the system or hard drive of a workstation.
  • Printing from the Internet is only for educational purposes, such as homework or research assignments.
